Day 1: Arrival in Negombo

Upon landing at Bandaranaike International Airport, you'll transfer to Negombo, a coastal city renowned for its expansive beaches and bustling fish markets. Spend the day unwinding on the sandy shores, exploring the local markets, or visiting historical sites like the Dutch Fort and St. Mary's Church.​

Day 2: Negombo to Anuradhapura

Travel north to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's ancient capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, embark on a cycling tour to explore the sprawling ruins of this sacred city, including landmarks such as the Sri Maha Bodhi tree, Ruwanwelisaya stupa, and Jetavanaramaya monastery. Cycling offers an intimate experience of the city's historical grandeur.​

Day 3: Anuradhapura to Polonnaruwa to Dambulla

Depart for Polonnaruwa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, famed for its well-preserved medieval architecture and sculptures. Explore the ancient city by bicycle, visiting notable sites like the Royal Palace, Gal Vihara, and the Quadrangle. In the evening, proceed to Dambulla to explore the Dambulla Cave Temple, a complex of five caves adorned with intricate murals and over 150 Buddha statues.​

Day 4: Dambulla to Kandy via Sigiriya

Begin the day with a climb up Sigiriya, also known as Lion's Rock Fortress. This iconic site features ancient frescoes, landscaped gardens, and panoramic views from the summit. After descending, continue to Kandy, the cultural heart of Sri Lanka. In Kandy, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which houses a sacred tooth of the Buddha, and enjoy a traditional cultural dance performance in the evening.​

Day 5: Knuckles Mountain Range Excursion

Embark on a day trip to the Knuckles Mountain Range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its biodiversity and scenic trails. Trekking through this rugged terrain offers encounters with endemic flora and fauna, picturesque waterfalls, and panoramic vistas. Return to Kandy in the evening for a well-deserved rest.​

Day 6: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

Journey to Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as "Little England" for its colonial architecture and cool climate. En route, stop at Ramboda Falls to witness the cascading beauty of this waterfall. Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, visit a tea plantation and factory to learn about tea production and partake in a tea plucking experience. Conclude the day with a warm cup of Ceylon tea amidst the lush plantations.​

Day 7: Horton Plains and World's End

Set out early for Horton Plains National Park to undertake the hike to World's End, a sheer cliff with a drop of about 4,000 feet, offering breathtaking views. The park is also home to diverse wildlife and the beautiful Baker's Falls. The trek is approximately 9.5 km and is best started early to catch clear views before the mist sets in.​

Day 8: Nuwara Eliya to Ella to Udawalawe

Experience one of the world's most scenic train journeys from Nanu Oya to Ella, traversing rolling tea plantations, misty mountains, and picturesque villages. Upon reaching Ella, visit the Ravana Falls, a popular attraction with a connection to the Ramayana legend. Later, proceed to Udawalawe for an overnight stay.​

Day 9: Udawalawe to Sinharaja

In the morning, embark on a jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park, renowned for its large elephant population and diverse wildlife. After the safari, travel to Sinharaja Forest Reserve, Sri Lanka's last viable area of primary tropical rainforest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.​

Day 10: Sinharaja Rainforest Exploration

Spend the day exploring Sinharaja Rainforest with a naturalist guide. This biodiversity hotspot is home to numerous endemic species of flora and fauna. Trekking through the dense forest, you'll encounter a symphony of bird calls, exotic plants, and perhaps glimpse elusive wildlife.​

Day 11: Sinharaja to Galle

Travel to Galle, a city steeped in colonial history. Explore the Galle Dutch Fort and Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, characterized by cobblestone streets, colonial-era buildings, and a vibrant arts scene. Stroll along the fort's ramparts, visit boutique shops, and enjoy the coastal ambience.​

Days 12-13: Leisure Days

These days are reserved for relaxation and personal exploration. Consider unwinding on the beaches of Unawatuna or Mirissa, engaging in water sports, or indulging in Ayurvedic spa treatments. Alternatively, explore nearby attractions such as the turtle hatcheries in Kosgoda or embark on a whale-watching excursion.​

Day 14: Departure

Conclude your Sri Lankan adventure with a transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure flight, carrying with you memories of an unforgettable journey through this enchanting island.
